I know that sitting down in front of a therapist for the first time can be scary and vulnerable so I thought I would break the ice by sharing a little bit about myself. First, the ocean and the color blue are two things that consistently bring me joy. Second, I was born and raised in Birmingham, AL and I come from a big, loud, Italian family. And while family doesn’t always spark joy, I strive to stay healthy so that I can connect to my family in a fulfilling way. Family has always been very important to me, and that’s why I love family systems therapy. So many of our wounds are tied to a relationship (or a lack thereof) and at the same time, healing can only be found through heart to heart connections. Sometimes we are afforded an opportunity to heal in a relationship and sometimes we have to find internal healing with the support of other relationships.
